Project Bids

Purpose of Fund

To assist local authorities in meeting their target of 2.5% efficiency gains per year for three years, ODPM has made available a fund to support projects which are designed to deliver these gains.  The identification of suitable projects and awarding of grants is managed by the regional centres of excellence.

To support projects in Yorkshire and the Humber, the CoE has been allocated a fund of £1.460 million by ODPM in the years 2004-5 and 2005-6 \nd £0.91 million for 2006-7.  There have been a number of successful bids approved so far.

Criteria

Bids are invited from local authorities who complete the bid forms and can demonstrate that their proposal will deliver potential efficiency gains.   Preference is given to projects which propose joint service delivery opportunities across authorities or other forms of collaborative working, including with the private sector.

Also, if a project promises efficiency gains without the use of an external partner, then the bid may be considered on its own merits.  Particularly welcome are "exemplar" projects where successful implementation of the process or proposal is potentially transferable to other local authorities.
